Trainer [South Africa]


 

Main Purpose of the Position:

Training and development are a critical function within Tapestry Home Brands (Pty) Ltd as we aim to achieve a high performance culture. The main responsibilities will be the facilitation, administration and evaluation of the training and development programmes for the Bedding Division.

Experience and competencies required:

  • At least 3years’ experience as a Retail Manager and at least 5years’ sales experience
  • Excellent computer Literacy
  • Any relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous
  • Social media and Digitally Savvy
  • IT4U Smart
  • Advanced product knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle essential.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Training Facilitation

  • Lesson Planning
  • Contract the services of a training provider to align and ensure accreditation of training courses
  • Create and write training courses including learner’s guide, facilitators guide and assessment guide
  • Facilitate training

Training Evaluation

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current training programmes
  • Create evaluation systems/tools of training programme
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training once employee is in the workplace
  • Get buy-in from line managers for evaluation

Training Administration

  • Schedule training programmes including venues, candidates and catering
  • Keep attendance registers of all training interventions
  • Collation of training manuals
  • Ensure that the training folder is always updated

Training strategy and implementation

  • Create and form an annual training plan
  • Present information about the training strategy to HR and Training Manager
  • Implement training strategy with HR and Training Manager
  • Monitor successful implementation • Develop evaluation system for training strategy
  • Evaluate all training interventions

Discretionary and Mandatory Programs

  • Co-ordinating of programs induction
  • Facilitate the programs
  • Keeping attendance records
  • Conduct assessments

Effective teamwork and self-management

  • Continually drive best-in-class solutions and practices
  • Makes an effort to stay relevant and up to date (with legislation, new developments, etc.)
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management and follow-through with agreed deadlines
  • Demonstrate a strong excellence / quality orientation
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
  • Manage colleagues and client’s expectations and communicate appropriately
  • Manage own disruptive emotions (handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact others)
  • Be keen to participate in seminars or any conferences in line with prescribed scope of work.

  • Sandton, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
