About the role
Your Impact as Legal Counsel LATAM:
This position is located at Colombia under the supervision of the Regional Counsel Americas, located in Atlanta (Marietta). As Legal Counsel LATAM, you will be an integral part of our international Legal, Compliance and Intellectual Property team. We have colleagues in various locations across Europe, India, Asia and the Americas. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with our Regional Counsel Americas and will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):
- Drafting and negotiating contracts between Bekaert Group Companies and our business partners (customers, suppliers, agents, distributors, etc.) in Latin America
- Providing general legal advice
- Monitoring disputes and litigations. Whenever necessary or appropriate you will be responsible for engaging, instructing and managing external lawyers.
- Working closely together with colleagues from the business and other functional areas to develop appropriate solutions for all issues brought to your attention.
- Organize and maintain Corporate Secretary of Bekaert’s legal entities in the Americas on an ongoing basis (drafting of annual meetings, non-project corporate changes and daily corporate documents), including board meeting coordination.
- Collaborate closely with our international legal and compliance team for the deployment of legal corporate policies, compliance programs, training & awareness in Latin America.
- Ad hoc assistance in legal, compliance or M&A projects in Latin America (continuous improvement projects, new incorporation, equity transfer, expansion, merger, share pledge, acquisition etc.)
- You will be actively coached by your manager and other colleagues from the Bekaert Group Legal team, to progressively enable you to handle complex matters.
About You
- Essential skills & competencies
- You obtained a Master degree in Law
- You have 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience for an international law firm or a multinational company
- Generalist legal counsel experience, with focus on business and commercial law, preferably with an international dimension
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in English and Spanish
- Ability to work under pressure and independently
- Team player with can-do attitude
- You have a pronounced international interest and you value cultural diversity
- You are willing to travel abroad occasionally, depending on business needs
